But diamonds are a girls best friends"

My youngest calls Valentine's Single's Awareness Day. I told her good work with the name, but it can be Couple's Awareness Day just the same.

I remember a Valentine's I got a towel. Not a full set. Just the face towel. Then there are the ubiquitous red roses which I loathe. I don't like roses all that much, but understand the convenience of their availability. The kiss of death is making them red. Not charming white, not vibrant orange, happy yellow or delicate pink.

At least when you're single you don't have to worry about another gift that makes it clear your partner knows zilch about you. My new job, for the benefit of human kind, would be present adviser. Tell me how much you have to $ and grant me an interview. Voila! No crap present ever again.

I know somebody who would like this a lot... **me**

Hope you're all doing well and that this new app works. Kind of lame so far.

Oooh, you got a LJ app. Nifty!

You are the perfect present chooser! I'll totally vouch for your gift-giving skills--I have been enjoying the hell out of the rice cooker you got me! Since I'm so busy, I've barely had time to cook, but it's been a huge help to be able to set the timer before I leave for work, and viola, have rice ready when I'm home. I can quickly cook some veggies and/or protein to throw on top the rice and have a nice fresh home-cooked meal, even when working craaaaazy hours. :)

Heh. This reminds me of Scrooged. "What about your Christmas bonus?" "I'm drying my hair with it."

That's the first thing I thought of, too!

Hello, darling — the app worked!

So glad to see you here, and that Doctor Who thing is AWESOME.

Ok.. you're totally worth a Hitchhikers Guide Towel (one of those HUGE Bath Towels) - and perhaps some Tardis Blue Roses.

Too bad the nesting dolls are one of a kind, not for sale type.

As a single guy - this day can suck - being reminded of couplehood all around, feeling like being on the outside looking in.
(just imagine me pressing my nose against the glass :D )

It made me smile when you reminded me of the HG Towel, but that wasn't the spirit of the gift. If only...

I see you have an ipad. How is it?

I love those dollies.

Peter seemed happy that I lost weight when I was sick - and then gave me a big box of chocolates for Valentines. I'd ask you to explain men to me, but you probably can't either.

I'm addicted to my iPad. I didn't even want one, but this was a gift. Now I can't put it down.

As do I. Not for sale though...

Chocolates and red roses are go to gifts that men get in order to be good. Their version of being good, at least. I don't think they get what the big deal is. I just like to remind the male that if there wasn't a specific date on the calendar when they are supposed to be more romantic or at least make a pretense at appreciating their partners, they would never do it.

PS Anything in the mail this week? Sent you something for your bday :)

Hope you like it... It was one of those things I thought long and hard and decided to go for it. I'm actually nervous.

Now I'm really intrigued. :)

I'll let you know as soon as I see it. And don't be nervous.

I received something today without a sender's name, but nice bright birthday paper. Is it the cookie jar? Is it? Because that's the best thing in the history of anything!!

You really liked it?! I'm so glad - I thought maybe you wouldn't, but you are the one who got me to watch the Doctor and... I'm so glad you liked it...

PS I'm sorry it was late though. I did order a week before :(
