Quick:
I'm alive.

I'm following politics, specially the absurd of the Marriage Amendment. HRC link for anybody interested. I wasn't surprised with Kerry's choice of a running mate (The Post was - hehe. Everybody by now knows about the bad call). Duh! Candidates don't get voted on because of their record, intelligence and policies, but on how likeable they are - so, Edwards was an obvious choice. The fact I like Edwards comes as no surprise to anybody who reads my LJ (yes, the 2 of you), so I'm happy. Disappointed I still have to hear that if Kerry is elected the sky will fall and terrorists will conquer the world because Democrats are evil, as you know (soul deprived even) and will let the USA be destroyed. Only BUSH can save you! I'm telling you, BUSH will save you. Stop laughing. I'm serious. Oh, bugger!

Saw 9/11. I was talking to [livejournal.com profile] drinkthepoisonx how it showed me nothing new. I just realized that people in the US get the Nintendo version of the war: no bodies, no kids with their faces blown off from friendly fire (friendly fire *pause* friendly *blinks*)... What surprised me was the extent of the Saudi piece of the Apple Pie. I've always been clueless about money and business anyway. Sort of unethical. But the war? I mean, really. When people go to war they do get killed, have their faces blown off and legs exploded from under them. They see their mates blown to bits right next to them. They shoot at anything that moves. Just go and see any unedited Vietnam footage. Natives will get killed if they get in the way, also if they are nowhere in the way, but HQs miscalculates a precision bombing. It's not a video game.
It's messy & bloody - full stop.
Sometimes the cause you are fighting for makes all the bloody mess bearable. First example that comes to mind is the obvious one: Hitler. That one was easy and it's no coincidence the History Channel keeps showing one documentary after another on it. Funny how it took Pearl Harbor for the USA to go into that (while all of Europe was suffering) and Iraq was so easy. Save your saliva - not talking about going after terrorists in Afghanistan or any other tan... I'm all for going after the people responsible for the cowardly murder of innocents. Talking about a war that diverted men and resources from what the USA should be doing - the going after the people who admited and were/are proud of killing thousands in New York City on September 11, 2001.

No oil there?

I will shut up now and go to bed. This was only to say I've spent v. little time online. I basically use it to write to my family back home, but will try to be better about it.

I leave you with a joke and something more on the serious side.
