I was defriended.
There are people out there whose LJs I read because they are funny, some because we have interests in common, a few for genuine affection. I never expect to be friended back and don't worry much about it. Point being: the whole friending and defriending thing has never been personal to me.
I think I was defriended because of politics, though, and that's sort of creepy. There are people on my list who aren't as liberal as I am - truth be told, most of you aren't - but I find it interesting (I confess also exasperating at times) to read different POVs and try to talk. I'm an international who has lived in very different countries and I always saw that as a bonus, not an onus, when it came time to discuss anything. I have strong opinions, yes, but what's the use of having opinions at all if they aren't strong?
Anyway...
I'm all for the right people have of not reading what they don't want to, but it saddens me that blinders seem to be the new fashion accessory. On both sides - mind you. Though I'm pretty biased, I can still see points made by the other side (if I squint and tilt my head). I may not agree, but that's another story.
In the end I'm left feeling a bit disappointed. I know most of you from the BtVS Spike fandom and we pretty much used to be an open minded, let's discuss all aspects of life bunch. Certainly not the B&W, manichaeist sort (Spike and manichaeism being very unmixy things). Or so I thought.
Mr. Elvis Costelly passed on some sage advice when he said: I used to be disgusted and now I try to be amused. I'll try to keep my humour about.
