Black Orchid

I just finished >The Black Orchid<. I still think the man (the man being Neil Gaiman) is a genius, but I found that the pairing of Mr. Gaiman with Mr. McKean heightens the whole experience. I've been OD-ing on The Endless, with little day trips to Black Orchid, Columbine, etc. and it's just so very good.

Question: The ex-husband character in The Black Orchid, Thorne, doesn't he look like NG?

Whine: I wish I was at Comic Con having all my stuff autographed.

I ask myself why do I have such a strong desire to meet those two. It's not like their talent will migrate into this empty vessel of mine. I don't have an answer for that question. I can just go all neon green with envy over [livejournal.com profile] redeem147's multiple NG meetings and photos and autographs.

Whine 2: I really wish I was standing in the autograph line for the NG and DM thing.

On other news: Today is my allowance to the plague that is reality tv, The Amazing Race. As I have told Colleen and anybody else who will stick around long enough: It's like an endurance race, not a reality thing. Really.

Okay, Chen, this is an important question. I've only read NG's Neverwhere, American Gods, and the Pratchett collaboration Good Omens. What should I try next? :-)

Depends how you feel about graphic novels. I wasn't into them for a long time (as in - it's not a real book) and then I started and couldn't stop.

I would tell you to go with Death, both High Cost of Living and Time of Your Life. Both graphic novels, both fun.

Endless Nights is a good place if you want to meet The Endless. Or you could ignore The Endless (Destiny, Death, Dream, Destruction, the tiwns: Desire & Despair and Delirium who was Delight, but something happened) and try Murder Mysteries or The Black Orchid.

I know.

My reply was rudely interrupted.

As I was saying, there's also Violent Cases - a favorite of mine.

As you see, there's a lot of Gaiman out there and all of it quite good.

I definitely will try a graphic novel, then. :-) Thanks, Chen,
and have a wonderful time in LV with everyone!

I did mention that Chris Bachalo drew me a Death, didn't I?

Ooh, I can be sooooo mean.
