ROME (Reuters) - A 67-year-old woman was killed when a three-meter tall metal crucifix fell on her head in a small southern Italian town on Wednesday, police said.
The cross, which has been in the main square on Sant'Onofrio for decades, fell on Maddalena Camillo while workers were setting up lights for an annual religious festival.
Italy, home to the Vatican City, is a predominantly Roman Catholic country where crucifixes and religious icons and effigies are a common sight in most towns and villages.
The Catholic in me wonders if that entitles Signora Camillo immediate admittance to Heaven - like dying in prayer supposedly does.
The Italian in me is insulted Reuters felt the need to explain anything at all about Italy. Don't all roads lead to Rome?!
The humorist in me pictures Signora Camillo arriving at the Pearly Gates and what she answered St. Peter when asked for cause of death.
The lawyer in me? I'd sue, for sure. I mean, if He is responsible for this, think of the settlement?!
Though, how does one go about finding a lawyer there?

But then what is collecting church collapses compared to, let's say, cannibalism?
Not like he was going anywhere but down anyway.
