Eddie Izzard is one of my favorite comics. His kind of humour consistently makes me laugh and I have to say, the cross-dressing doesn't hurt. How can one resist a man who does heels with such aplomb? Killer eyes with masterful eyeliner technique... And there's the whole accent thing.
Yeah. Yes, I’m a professional transvestite so I can run about in heels and not fall over cause, uh, you know, if women fall over wearing heels, ah, that’s embarrassing, but if a bloke falls over wearing heels, then you have to kill yourself. You know, its – end of your life, it’s quite difficult.
There’s all this National Rifle Association and everyone in America is – I mean 13 year olds keep going out and they borrow – they get a hold of weapons from their grandfather’s arsenal – “I’ll borrow the Howitzer, the M16 machine gun, the Uzi, the” – what the fuck’s the grandfather doing? Th – This kid down in Arkansas just helped himself to a ton of military weapons and went and blew away his school. You know. And there is – they say – the National Rifle Association says that, “Guns don’t kill people, uh, people do.” But I think – I think the gun helps. You know? I think it helps. I just think just standing there going, “Bang!” That’s not going to kill too many people, is it? You’d have to be really dodgy on the heart to have that – “Bang! Bang! Boom! Bang! Rat-a-tat boom! Bang!” I think they should just try that, you know.
He'll be in the US (I so wish I could see him in NY) promoting the DVD release of his shows Unrepeatable (1994), Definite Article (1996), and Glorious (1997) - all set for their first release on DVD and CD (and for Unrepeatable and Definite Article, their first release ever in North America) on November 9.

Everyone fucking lies! When we're kids, we lie our heads off! "I didn't do it! I didn't do it! I was dead at the time! I was on the moon...with Steve." And your dad's going, "I haven't even accused you of anything yet!" "Well then what is it? What is it? What? What?" "Did you brush your teeth?" "No! Yes! What's the correct answer? I was dead at the time!" Then when you're more mature, you do start telling the truth, in odd situations. "I'm sorry, I've broken a glass. I've broken this...is that expensive? I broke it...I'll pay for that." And you do that so that people in the room might go, "What a strong personality that person has. I like to have sex with people who have strong personalities." "And I've broke other things! I've smashed that...and that's gone...and I've just thrown the cat out the window."
